Today's most popular poker game is NL Texas Hold'em. This internationally known game can have stakes of cash games consisting of blinds up to half a million dollars. It seems to be unclear on who, or which entity if any, actually governs the game of poker, or more specifically online poker. Poque, the French version, was also played in the same areas as where poker is believed to originate. The name may have been derived from Irish "Poca" or German "Pochen". But it is not clear and evidence can not be precise to conclude who, or which nation actually invented the game first.

The great thing about poker (not online poker), is the aspect of "reading" opponents. For example, your opponent bets $159. Does he really have the Ace? Or did he add the $9 to make him look strong? But if he had the Ace wouldn't he bet maybe $120 or $300?? Why $159? Is he lying?

Simple tells like this is what distinguish amateur players from the professionals. If one can master tells, then the game of poker (not online since you can not see your opponents) will be a much easier game to play. Here are some tells to get you started...

• 1st Reaction: When the opponent sees a card (hole card or as the flop comes out), does he look startled or disappointed? If he looks disappointed you can be $10 and win the pot no matter what you have.
• Eyes: 1st reaction of eyes go up or down? Up is psycologically a positive reaction, down is negative. So if he looks up, you can bet he has the Ace.
• Feet: Are his feet shaking? Psycologically shaking feet means he is nervous. Nervous about what? A flop of Jack-Jack-Four?
